Last place in the table, eight points behind a safe position, no coach. This is the current situation in Silesia Wrocław in Ekstraklasa. In May this year, WKS enjoyed a sensational runner-up finish in the country, and if it had scored one more point in the table, it would have become the champion. Jack's team Magiera was a revelation, fueled by goals from top scorer Erik Exposito.

Silesia is sinking deeper and deeper

Since then, however, everything in the capital of Lower Silesia has turned upside down. Exposito did not renew his contract with the club and left. The very important Nahuel Leiva also left the team. In their place came many players of very questionable quality. Arnau Ortiz, Sebastian Musiolik, Tudor Baluta and young Filip Rejczyk turned out to be a series of misunderstandings. And these are not all transfer duds from the summer.

Effect? Only one win from eighteen matches, dismissal of coach Jacek Magiera and sports director David Balda, last place in the table. What's worse, when the club fired the coach, it did not have a ready successor. The team was taken over by the quarreling duo Michał Hetel – Marcin Dymkowski, and Śląsk lost three very important matches against Puszcza Niepołomice (0:1), Lechia Gdańsk (0:1) and Radomiak Radom (1:2). That is, they are rivals in the fight for relegation.

The coaches do not want to save Śląsk

Today, Śląsk is eight points behind a safe position and has no coach. What's more, no one wants to take on the mission to save them. According to the latest reports, five coaches have already refused to join the Wrocław team, including: former coach of Lechia Gdańsk, Tomasz Kaczmarek, or Valdas Dambrauskas recently released from Omonia Nicosia.

Guilty? Only one answer

Who is to blame for this state of affairs? Fans and experts have no doubt that the town hall will be headed by President Jacek Sutryk. The city of Wrocław owns Silesia, which relies largely on its subsidies and money from municipal companies. As it turns out, in 2025 the club will be able to count on further funds, which will be disastrous results they haven't changed anything here. This was revealed by Andrzej Kilijanek, a councilor of the City Council.

The city has planned huge amounts of money for Silesia. The councilor reveals

The politician announced this during a room on the X “Śląskowe Gadanie” portal with the participation of local (and not only) journalists and Śląsk fans. There was funding in the amount of as much as PLN 19 million. And this is only money from the city itself, without counting municipal companies. The Sport.pl portal asked the councilor for a comment on the whole matter. It turns out that this money was included in the draft city budget for the next year, and the vote will take place in a few days. And it will most likely end well for Silesia.

– This is a matter of planning the city budget. We, as councilors, learned about it at the November session of the City Council, when the draft budget was presented to us for first reading. A vote on the adoption of the project will take place on Thursday, December 19. Everything indicates that President Jacek Sutryk still has the majority of support (editor's note in the Council), so the budget will most likely be adopted. According to it, Silesia will receive PLN 19 million from the city – said councilor Andrzej Kilijanek. This amount is still slightly smaller than a year earlier, when WKS could count on approximately PLN 20 million from the city budget.
