The Ukrainian Military Center reports that the Russian military has started building twelve hangars in the Volgograd Oblast, 300 kilometers from the border with Ukraine. The hangars are intended to protect aircraft against drones and ATACMS missiles. Until now, shelters covered with profiled sheets were installed in the territory of the Russian Federation and did not provide the necessary protection.

The construction of new hangars was noticed in satellite images of the Marynovka airport, which is located in the Volgograd Oblast in Russia300 km from the border with Ukraine – the non-governmental organization Ukrainian Military Center reported on Wednesday on the X platform.

The photo shows 12 new hangars that provide shelter for Su-24 fighter-bombers and Su-34 fighter-bombers.

According to the Military Center, Russians expect the hangars to protect planes against drones and ATACMS ballistic missiles.

It is not yet known what materials the hangars are made of. So far, aviation shelters covered with profiled sheets have been installed on the territory of the Russian Federation. However, this did not provide the necessary protection because they are not thick enough.

Due to the lack of specialized stationary reinforced concrete shelters, the Russian air force constantly suffers losses from attacks by Ukrainian drones and missiles.
