2 Florida Okay-9s recovering after getting shot by armed carjacking suspect, deputies says

Two Okay-9s with a neighborhood sheriff’s office in Florida are recovering after an armed carjacking suspect shot each canine throughout a police pursuit early Saturday, authorities mentioned.

The incident occurred early Saturday after the suspect directed his Lyft driver to take him to a distant street, the place he then carjacked the white Kia Sedona minivan at gunpoint.

The sheriff’s workplace released graphic bodycam footage of the shootings and deputies dashing to assist their Okay-9 companions.

Okay-9 Ax was rushed to the Animal Emergency Hospital Volusia in Ormond Seashore by his handler Deputy A.J. Davis. The Daytona Seashore Police Division despatched its personal Okay-9s to the clinic to donate blood for Ax. 

Okay-9 Endo was taken to the Veterinary Emergency Heart of East Volusia in South Daytona by his handler Deputy Brett Whitson. Endo has beforehand been awarded the sheriff’s workplace Medal of Valor and Purple Coronary heart after he was shot within the neck responding to a home violence name in 2015.
