The new school year starts on Wednesday for students from 20,000 schools. Education will take place in a full-time mode in all types of schools and educational institutions. However, the sanitary regime will be maintained, in accordance with the guidelines developed by the Ministry of Education and Science in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and the Chief Sanitary Inspectorate.
The school bell will ring for the first time for 381,000 children starting education in the first years of primary schools. 644.5 thousand teachers teach in all types of schools.
“Artistic education is a constant contact with beauty and art, it is the creation and multiplication of artistic skills; sometimes tedious, requiring a lot of patience, but giving tangible and tangible results” – he wrote in a letter to students, teachers and employees of art schools at the beginning of the school year 2021 / 22 Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Culture, National Heritage and Sport Piotr Gliński. “Each newly mastered piece, each new drawing or sculpture, each new step in the ballet room gives a sense of meaning, providing motivation for further achievements” – he added.
Gliński noted that “the pandemic has forced the school community to take up challenges on a previously unknown measure”. “As a state guardian of the artistic environment, we tried to eliminate pandemic difficulties, making reasonable decisions about both introducing and withdrawing restrictions. We have increased the availability of technical support so that the reimbursed equipment could facilitate remote arts education, “wrote the Deputy Prime Minister in his letter.
Teachers admit that it will be a challenging year, because the Ministry of Education provided many guidelines in connection with the pandemic. They are to ensure the safety of students and teachers.
One recommendation is to keep a minimum distance of 1.5 meters between people at school. – Such a recommendation cannot be fulfilled. Schools are crowded, especially in sensitive places, for example in toilets, said Marek Pleśniar from the National Association of Educational Management Staff (OSKKO).
He pointed out that in some countries the cadre had been strengthened to make the classes smaller. However, this did not happen in Poland. The guidelines – as the expert says – also cover common rooms and canteens, and the distance requirement cannot be met in most cases. In public areas, especially when it is impossible to keep a distance, it is also recommended to wear masks, so parents should provide their children with them. If not, they will also be available in schools.
Everyone will study in a full-time mode
The Minister of Education and Science, Przemysław Czarnek, has repeatedly emphasized in recent days that from September 2021 all students will be studying at school on a pre-pandemic basis, i.e. in full-time mode. He emphasized that students needed it. Psychologists agree.
– The teaching process includes not only the issues of transferring knowledge and acquiring it, but also educating and satisfying the needs, including contact with other people, being in a social group – said psychologist Dr. Marta Znmiecka from the Institute of Psychology at the University of Lodz.
She also pointed to the reduced effectiveness of distance learning. – It will drop drastically, these people will have deficits that they will have to make up somewhere, for example in the form of tutoring. It will come out over time – she emphasized in an interview with PAP in March, when schools were switching to remote work.
Sanitation guidelines in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic
The Department of Education and Science recommends that parents restrict school admission. They can enter the shared school space with their children, keeping a distance of 1.5 meters from other parents and school staff, and they should observe all precautions, i.e. have their mouths and noses covered with masks and their hands disinfected.
The main recommendations contained in the sanitary guidelines for primary and secondary schools, effective from September 1, 2021, are vaccination for school employees and students in certain age groups (over 12 years of age), disinfection, distance, hygiene and masks when there is no possibility of maintaining distance, as well as airing. Outdoor physical education activities are also encouraged.
According to the guidelines, only a student may come to school without signs of infection or contagious disease and without any obligation of quarantine or home isolation.
Schools will be full of disinfectants and masks. As Marek Pleśniak from OSKKO said, initially, during the pandemic, the problem was their insufficient number. However, last Monday, the delivery of the so-called covid packages to almost 32,000 schools and educational institutions in the country. The assortment sent to schools includes disinfection stations with temperature measurement function, disinfectants, personal protective equipment, including masks. Schools and institutions will also receive non-contact thermometers.
