– The situation in the world has completely changed. Right now, we need to build Poland's economic power and the European Union's economic power, said the Civic Coalition's candidate for president, Rafał Trzaskowski. PiS candidate Karol Nawrocki talked about, among other things, financing his campaign, local governments and “Polish responsibilities”.
Although the presidential election campaign has not officially started yet, candidates are already fighting for voters' votes. On Wednesday, both the KO candidate and the candidate PIS took part in press conferences in which they talked about their plans for the election campaign.
Trzaskowski: we can end the Polish-Polish war
Rafał Trzaskowski met with journalists in the newly built tram depot in Annopol in Warsaw. The politician was asked, among other things, about the tensions during Smolensk monthlies.
– We can end the Polish-Polish war as far as citizens are concerned. This is my goal. I have always talked about building a community, I have said that we should try to focus our attention on the issues that unite us, and we do that, said Trzaskowski.
– When it comes to monthly events, it is simply the behavior of politicians who are trying to heat up the atmosphere. This is the result. Unfortunately, I have very limited influence on PiS politicians, he added.
“I am a supporter of personal contacts”
On Wednesday, PAP published an interview with Rafał Trzaskowski. He stated, among other things, that after the elections “the new president should receive a ready package of laws to sign.” He pointed out, among others: to changes that depoliticize the justice system and “all the regulations that President Andrzej Duda vetoed.”
– This campaign will be completely different. The 2020 campaign was primarily about regaining full democracy and the rule of law. Today we are talking about issues related to the economy and what I call economic patriotism. The situation in the world has completely changed. Right now, we need to build Poland's economic power and the European Union's economic power, he said.
The Mayor of Warsaw also talked about the victory Donald Trump in the presidential elections in USA. He said he “knew a lot of people around President Donald Trump and he has always made sure to have relationships with both Republicans and Democrats.”
– I am a supporter of personal contacts. I never shy away from them, said Trzaskowski.
Nawrocki: I have Polish duties
On Wednesday during a press conference organized in Radomsko Karol Nawrocki declared that if he wins the elections, one of his first legislative initiatives will concern sustainable development. He touched upon, among others: the issue of Polish local governments.
– The allocation of funds in the new act is based on the radical domination of large cities. These subsidies and the new act itself again widen the difference between local governments and central governments. So what if there are more financial resources if they are distributed with great intensity to the largest cities in Poland – said Nawrocki.
– I am a Pole and I have Polish responsibilities, and the voice of Polish entrepreneurs in this noise of bureaucratic and administrative decisions of the European Union, these packages that affect everyday activities, will be the subject of my deep concern as a citizen candidate for president – he said, referring to European regulations regarding transport companies.
Nawrocki on campaign financing
When asked who was financing his election campaign, he replied: – My campaign, which will start in January, will be financed thanks to Poles and Polish women, and thanks to many circles, foundations, associations, entrepreneurs, but also with the participation of the largest political circles. in Poland, which supports me (PiS – ed.).
At the conference, Nawrocki was also asked about his announcement regarding the holiday Institute of National Remembrancewhich he is to take for the duration of the campaign.
– From the moment the campaign officially begins, I will be on leave and I also call on my opponents to approach the formal, regular election campaign in an honest and fair manner – said the president of the Institute of National Remembrance.
