The Białystok court has announced a verdict in the trial of a large group associated with the football hooligans community, whose members have committed to promoting fascism, participating in fights or profiting from prostitution. Proceedings against one of the participants in the process were discontinued.

On Tuesday, before the District Court in Białystok, the parties made closing arguments. PLN, and in one case also a stadium ban.

In his closing speech, prosecutor Grzegorz Masłowski from the Podlasie branch of the National Prosecutor’s Office said that the group’s structures were very hermetic and it was difficult to collect incriminating evidence. However, in 2014, a man was detained (it was about drug trafficking), who also decided to testify about other people’s crimes, including racist activities, meetings based on fascist ideology, participation in the so-called fan setups.

By court decision, two persons were sentenced to 3-4 years in prison without suspension. The remaining convicts were sentenced to a suspended sentence of one to one and a half years, as well as fines and interest. Proceedings against one of the participants in the process were discontinued.

The judgment is not final.

A multithreaded case

Let us remind you that this is another case related to a large investigation by the Podlasie Regional Prosecutor’s Office of the National Prosecutor’s Office regarding the environment of football hooligans. The main trial, which is the result of combining two extensive indictments, involves a total of 46 people associated with the Jagiellonia Białystok hooligans and has been pending for two years also before the District Court in Białystok.

The allegations included several dozen acts from 2009-2013: acting in an organized crime group, fighting with other hooligans, promoting fascism and other crimes, such as profiting from prostitution or robbery in a shop. The convicts are about 30-40 years old, some have already been convicted. They did not admit to the crimes they were accused of either during the investigation or during the trial. At the publication of the judgment, which took the court an hour and a half to read out (without justification), none of them were present.
