A 26-year-old Ukrainian detained by Polish services in March allegedly encouraged the Pole to “share photos of military vehicles that were intended to help Ukraine and crossed the Polish-Ukrainian border.” He was charged with provocation and incitement to espionage and making criminal threats.

The information was provided in a statement on the ABW website by Jacek Dobrzyński, press spokesman for the minister coordinator of secret services. As he wrote, “On May 28 this year, an indictment ended the investigation of the Internal Security Agency, conducted under the supervision of the Lublin Branch of the Department for Organized Crime and Corruption of the National Prosecutor's Office in Lublin, against a Ukrainian citizen suspected of provocation and incitement to espionage and making punishable threats against “Polish citizen”.

He was supposed to share photos of military vehicles

The release reads that on March 9 this year, “officers of the ABW Delegation in Lublin, in cooperation with officers of the Border Guard Post in Korczowa, detained 26-year-old Ukrainian citizen Oleksandr D., who – via an Internet messenger – encouraged a Polish citizen to take part in the activities of foreign intelligence against the Republic of Poland.

“This activity was to consist in providing photos of military vehicles that were intended to help Ukraine and crossed the Polish-Ukrainian border. In exchange for the information provided, the Polish citizen was to receive a remuneration of EUR 15,000,” it added.

Indictment

“The suspect Oleksandr D. was interrogated and heard charges under Article 18 § 2 of the Penal Code in connection with Article 24 of the Penal Code in connection with Article 130 § 2 of the Penal Code and Article 190 § 1 of the Penal Code. The prosecutor submitted a request to the court to apply he was placed under pre-trial detention for a period of three months. The Lublin-Zachód District Court in Lublin, due to the gravity of the alleged acts, agreed to the prosecutor's request,” it was reported.

“The material collected during the investigation, leaving no doubt as to the guilt of the accused, allowed the prosecutor to prepare an indictment in the scope of the crimes charged against the suspect, which are punishable by imprisonment for a period of not less than eight years,” it was written.
