A week ago, Liverpool lost 1-0 at home to Nottingham Forest in one of the biggest surprises of the new Premier League season, and it was the first time the Reds had conceded a goal under new manager Arne Slot. However, Liverpool responded to that defeat in the best possible way in midweek when they won 3-1 at San Siro against AC Milan in the first round of the new Champions League.
Liverpool secure three points in 11 minutes of Premier League clash
On Saturday afternoon at Anfield, Liverpool were able to erase the bad impression they had after losing to Nottingham Forest in front of their own fans. Slot's players were up against Bournemouth. The fans watched a really lively match full of chances. Both teams had a total of 38 shots, half of which were on target!
In the fourth minute, Bournemouth mounted a fantastic counter-attack which saw Antoine Semenyo find the back of the net for Liverpool! However, the 24-year-old striker's goal was disallowed by VAR for offside.
On Liverpool's side, Luis Diaz showed a lot of enthusiasm. The Colombian tried to threaten Kepa's goal with a shot from outside the penalty area in the eighth minute, but the Spanish goalkeeper did well. In the 22nd minute, the Spaniard won another duel with the Liverpool winger.
Third time's a charm, though. In the 26th minute, Ibrahim Konate sent a brilliant pass behind Bournemouth's defence. Kepa miscalculated the ball's trajectory, Luis Diaz controlled the ball, dribbled past the keeper and scored for 1-0. Two minutes later, Liverpool's counterattack was led by Trent Alexander-Arnold, who passed to Diaz, who completed the double with a shot between Kepa's legs.
In the 37th minute, Liverpool surprised their rivals with another quick attack. Konate sent the ball to Darwin Nunez, who passed it to Mohamed Salah, the Egyptian passed it to the Uruguayan, who ran into the penalty area, went down to his left foot and with a beautiful strike increased the score to 3-0. It was Nunez's debut goal this season. This result meant that in the second half, neither team forced the pace and there were no more goals at Anfield.
