Officer Richard Clemons, an eight-year division veteran, was doing “routine enterprise checks” at 5 a.m. Wednesday when he noticed a Toyota parked outdoors a Cricket mobile phone retailer and approached the suspect, who was armed with the knife contained in the automobile, Kristin Mumford of the Nashville Metro Police Division says within the video.

Clemons “repeatedly” advised the suspect to drop the knife and referred to as for backup, Mumford stated.

West Precinct officers Colin Bleem, a five-year veteran, and Jonathan Phipps, a three-year veteran, responded to the scene earlier than the suspect charged on the three officers, who then fired on the Alabama man.

The Nashville Metro Police Division advised Fox Information they didn’t have any extra details about the deceased suspect on the time of publication.
