Today, Jurek Owsiak announced another goal for next year’s finals. This time, the foundation’s activities will focus on lungs after the pandemic. – COVID has caused devastation not only in Poland, but all over the world. In Poland, the system was not completely prepared – said Owsiak in “Fakty po Faktach”. On TVN24, the head of WOŚP assured that he would cooperate with the new Minister of Health “no matter who it is.”
Lungs after the pandemic – this is the new goal of WOŚP. Next year, the orchestra will play for children and adults whose respiratory systems have been permanently damaged by COVID-19. The final is scheduled for Sunday, January 28, 2024, and its motto will be “Everything is OK here!”.
Here’s why choice Jurek Owsiak was asked about pulmonology in Tuesday’s edition of “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24. – COVID has caused devastation not only in Poland, but all over the world. In Poland, the system was not completely prepared, the citizens were more prepared, he said. He admitted that he felt “maybe a little utopian relief” that after the elections “we are starting to repair things.”
– We don’t prepare everything ad hoc, we talk about it a lot, but we accept every suggestion. We do research beforehand, send surveys to hospitals, and ask them what they would need. These are not sudden decisions, he described.
Owsiak said that there are 15 pediatric pulmonology departments and 49 adult pulmonology departments to be supplied. – The plan is to buy a lot of diagnostic equipment. These are endoscopic diagnostics, imaging diagnostics, i.e. ultrasound, X-rays, computed tomography. This is everything that should be available at any time to make the diagnosis as quick as possible – he said.
He noted that we also need to focus on monitoring cystic fibrosis and on “purchasing equipment that will extend the life of a Polish patient by 10-15 years.”
– In case of sepsis, the equipment is already arriving. Yesterday we bought devices to fight sepsis, which performs the test in 4 hours 40 minutes. So far it has been 72 hours. These 4 hours and 40 minutes simply save lives, he pointed out.

The conversation also touched upon the “move” of next year’s Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity Finale from Plac Defilad to the grounds of the National Stadium.
– Warsaw has become crowded. It’s not that someone didn’t let us do it on Defilad Square, in front of the Palace of Culture (and Science). Błonia is very beautiful, today we have planned the route of the “Count with diabetes” run. There will be Prague, there has never been such a final move there before. There is very good access, there is a metro, the meadows are extremely spacious, and there is a beautiful view of the entire Warsaw – he presented.
Cooperation with the new Minister of Health. “We are always open”
Owsiak was also asked about his choice for health minister after the parliamentary elections. – We talked while shopping about who would be the best health minister. I would say those who have been there: no. Doctors say it must be a doctor so that he has an idea of what is happening, he replied.
– But no matter who it is, we are always open to cooperation. It is extremely important, extremely necessary, because only now it is visible that what the foundation and other non-governmental organizations do is an extraordinary support of the Ministry of Health – he noted.

The previous Orchestra Final took place on January 29 this year. The collection was held under the slogan “Live healthy in a healthy world”, and its aim was to collect funds for the purchase of equipment to fight sepsis. In March Owsiak announced that During the 31st WOŚP finale, PLN 243,259,387.25 was collected. A total of over 37 million heart stickers were distributed, and volunteers collected money for 220,000 cans and 24,000 e-piggy banks. Over 132,000 auctions were also organized and were visited by over five million people.
