A total of 33,000 e-mails were sent to PSL asking for a gracious meeting with the rainbow families. It is politicians' duty to ensure their safety. 33,000 e-mails, absolutely zero responses – said Hubert Sobecki from the Love Does Not Exclude Association in “Fakty po “Fakty” on TVN24. According to Mirosława Makuchowska from the Campaign Against Homophobia, Prime Minister Donald Tusk is responsible for the situation of homosexual couples in Poland.

– Political responsibility for the fact that there are still no civil partnerships in Poland lies with the Prime Minister Donald Tuskbecause he is responsible for what the Polish government does – said Mirosława Makuchowska, director of the Campaign Against Homophobia, in “Fakty po Faktach”.

She added that the bill was blocked by one of the coalition partners, the leader PSL Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz. – I cannot imagine a situation in which Prime Minister Tusk comes to a meeting of the Council of Ministers and is not able to say that this is so important, this is such a priority, I have been promising it for 14 years, we have to do it. That doesn't happen, she noted.

In her opinion, Donald Tusk “should take Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz for a conversation and say: listen, this is something we must do immediately.” – This is one thing he clearly cannot afford – she said.

According to Makuchowska, the Minister for Equality Katarzyna Kotula “he has great enthusiasm for this matter, he has passion.” – This is the first politician I have talked to in 15 years who cares, but she has a boss and he is responsible for the fact that these relationships do not exist and that we are again in the sphere of speculation – said the TVN24 guest.

33 thousand emails, no response

Hubert Sobecki, co-chairman of the Love Does Not Exclude Association, said that since elections it was known that “there would be a problem with PSL”.

– We started working. A total of 33,000 e-mails were sent to PSL asking for a gracious meeting with rainbow families, where there are, for example, two mothers and two fathers who raise children together. Because these families are in Poland, they exist and are waiting for protection, and it is politicians' duty to ensure their safety, argued Sobecki. – 33,000 e-mails were sent to PSL mailboxes. Round zero response – he added.

-We did the same thing. For the last month we have been calling and knocking on doors. This door is closed. There is no room for dialogue there, admitted Makuchowska.

“We are already terribly tired and frustrated”

According to Sobecki, the fact that the case is dragging on for so long is “scandalous, offensive and humiliating.” – After 20 years of dealing with this topic, it still looks absolutely undignified – he said.

Makuchowska said that “Tusk is a strong leader, he is a man who has repeatedly shown that when he really cares about something, he does it.”

– I wonder why this determination is not there. We are terribly tired and frustrated with the situation when, since 2011, we have been hearing from Donald Tusk every now and then, as if on Groundhog Day: “believe me, we will push through the law on civil partnerships right after the elections.” And where is she? – she wondered.

“Everyone should ask themselves this question”

Sobecki pointed out that marriage equality in the European Union is a standard. – This means that I have exactly the same right as you, to go to the registry office and get married with all the rights and obligations. This is the standard. Few countries still have partnerships that always involve cutting off people's rights and protections, he said.

– The question is what do you want to give up, maybe burial, or maybe child care, or maybe you don't want to have a guarantee of access to the hospital (to your partner – ed.), maybe you don't want to have a guarantee of the pension of the deceased person. What would you give up if you were in my place? – Sobecki asked the program's host, Diana Rudnik.

– And this is a question for the People's Party, this is a question for senators. Everyone should ask themselves this question: how would I react if someone wanted to amputate some of my absolutely basic defenses – said Sobecki.
