– The 500 plus indexation was adopted by the Sejm with a PiS majority, but this money is not in the budget and this will also require – as we have talked about – talks at the government level on what to do with this problem. The problem is that they adopted the act and did not leave any money for it, said Paulina Hennig-Kloska, vice-president of Poland 2050, on Radio Zet on Wednesday.
– The indexation of 500 plus debt will set fire to inflation, this is a huge problem for all of us – she added.
The minister responds
These words were commented on by the Minister of Family and Social Policy, Marlena Maląg, on the X website. “Contrary to the words of Mrs. Hennig-Kloska, the funds to increase the 500 plus benefit to 800 plus are secured in the state budget for 2024,” she assured.
The Family 500 plus program was launched on April 1, 2016. Under the program, families with dependent children are entitled to a childcare benefit of PLN 500 per child up to the age of 18, regardless of income.
Pursuant to the amendment to the Act on State Aid in Raising Children signed by the President in August, the 500 plus benefit will be increased to PLN 800 per child from January 1, 2024.
Next year, PLN 63.7 billion will be allocated from the state budget to implement the program.
