Woman 'touched' buns in store. Lawyer explains what the penalty for doing so may be

– Why are you touching this bun with your bare hand? – Marcin Kruszewski asked at the beginning of the video. – I think I'll put it back, I don't know if it's fresh – the customer replied. The outraged lawyer then emphasized that “it's not legal” because if we “touch” the bread it can no longer be sold to anyone else. – As the old rule says, the goods touched should belong to the toucher, so you will pay for it – commented the author of the video.

– What if you reached in and maliciously touched all the buns, just to make the store lose? In my opinion, it would be destruction of property. To put it mildly, the buns would lose their value, and you could be held responsible for a misdemeanor. Well, unless the value of the buns exceeds PLN 800, but then you would really be very malicious – Marcin Kruszewski added. The lawyer referred to Article 1 of the Code of Petty Offenses, which states that “only someone who commits a socially harmful act, prohibited by the law in force at the time of its commission, under penalty of arrest, restriction of freedom, a fine of up to PLN 5,000 or a reprimand, shall be held responsible for a misdemeanor”.

Touching bread also spreads viruses and bacteria.

The author of the video also stated that checking bread with your bare hand is a “plague” that is associated with a lack of hygiene. “Fetched” rolls become a breeding ground for bacteria, because “who washes their hands before shopping?” The lawyer emphasized that if we touch a given bread, we should simply buy it “not only out of respect for the law.”
