On the night from Monday to Tuesday Polish time Aryna Sabalenka (2. WTA) started her competition at the US Open. In the first round, she gave no chance to the much lower-ranked Australian Priscilla Hon (203. WTA) 6-3, 6-3. Many fans expected that the Belarusian would have no problems in her next match, in which she faced Italian Lucia Bronzetti (76. WTA). And so it happened.
Sabalenka's show of strength. Complete domination
The first set started for Sabalenka in the best possible way, as she held her own serve right from the start. A moment later, Bronzetti did the same and evened the score. In the third game, Sabalenka confidently held her serve and took the lead 2:1. Then Bronzetti made up for the loss and held her own serve to 30. The turning point was the sixth game. Then, Sabalenka broke her opponent and followed up. Ultimately, the first set ended with the result 6:3 for Sabalenka. In this set, the Belarusian sent a total of three aces, while her opponent sent two.
In the second set, Sabalenka played with the intensity we have come to expect. She completely dominated her opponent from Italy, who was not effective on her own serve. It was a set without much history, really. The Belarusian took a 4:0 lead and did not give it up until the very end. She finally closed the set with a score of 6:1, and the whole game 2:0 and with a confident step she came in to the third round of the US Open.
The next rival of Aryna Sabalenka will be the winner match Ekaterina Alexandrova – Iva Jović.
