Poland's population will drop to 36.6 million by 2029 – according to the latest estimates of the Ministry of Finance, prepared for the forecast of income and expenses of the Social Insurance Fund.
According to the forecast, Poland's population will decrease from 37.5 million in 2024 to 36.6 million in 2029, i.e. by 900,000.
The number of people of pre-working age (0-17 years) will increase by 636,000 in 2029. smaller than in 2024 – it was written in the study.
The population of people of working age (men aged 18-64 and women aged 18-59) in 2029 is expected to be 0.61 million people lower than in 2024.
However, the population of people of post-working age (men aged 65 and over and women aged 60 and over) in 2029 will reach a level of over 0.35 million people higher than in 2024.
The share of older people will increase
The shares of individual economic groups in the entire population will also change. The share of the population at pre-working age will continue to decrease in the years 2024-2029 – from 18.1 percent. in 2024 to 16.8 percent in 2029
The share of the working-age population will fall from 58.1%. in 2024 to 57.9 percent in 2029
In turn, the share of the population in post-working age will increase – from 23.7%. in 2024 to 25.3 percent in 2029
