Will two speed cameras disappear from the Poniatowski Bridge? The Mayor of Warsaw, Rafał Trzaskowski, is in favor of them remaining. And he announces talks with the conservator of monuments.

– I am of the opinion that these speed cameras should remain there – said the mayor of Warsaw, Rafał Trzaskowski, on Thursday.

– I will talk to the provincial conservator to ask him to look into the issue of safety. I understand the requirements for the protection of monuments, but in this place, we know that we have no other effective option to ensure safety – said Trzaskowski.

The current Masovian Voivodeship Provincial Conservator of Monuments Marcin Dawidowicz maintained the recommendations regarding the dismantling of two speed cameras published by his predecessor – prof. Jakub Lewicki. The devices are scheduled to be removed by the end of the year. After agreement with GITD, they will be moved to another place.

There are six of them

There are six speed cameras on the historic Poniatowski Bridge from 2021. Already at the time of their installation, the Masovian conservator informed that the two middle ones should be dismantled due to their location interfering with the structure of the stone benches (within the seats). According to the recommendations, the speed cameras were to be removed in December 2023, but due to the prolonged renovation of the bridge, the deadline for their dismantling was extended until the end of 2024.
