A phone number for a member of a criminal group
– It was established that a 37-year-old prison officer allowed the temporarily arrested person to be given a mobile phone to his cell, which enabled him to have unauthorized contact and further criminal activity – said Katarzyna Kucharska from the Masovian Police.
– He also illegally transferred other items to a temporarily arrested member of an organized criminal group distributing narcotic drugs to which a person in custody should not have access – she added, without revealing details.
In addition, the officer informed the inmate about planned inspections and instructed him what to do if his cell was checked. – It also enabled him to make unauthorized telephone contact via the prison service's landline. Another 47-year-old man involved in this practice acted as an intermediary in transferring the items, Kucharska said.
The officer has been suspended and may face prison
Both men, the prison officer and the man with whom he cooperated, were detained at their places of residence and brought to the District Prosecutor's Office in Ostrołęka.
The officer was charged with exceeding his powers in order to obtain benefits, and the other man was charged with aiding and abetting.
Against the men, the prosecutor used, among others: police supervision and suspension of the officer from official duties. They face 10 years in prison.
