Why such differences?

What are the causes of such temperature differences in Europe? As tvnmeteo.pl forecaster Arleta Unton-Pyziołek explains, Poland has been hit by “a wedge of heat extending from the central and eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea.” Thermometers show similar values as in our country in Hungary, the Balkan countries and Italy.

Spain, on the other hand, as well as other countries in the western part of the continent – explains the forecaster – found themselves “in a bay of cold, which spread from Spitsbergen, through Scandinavia and England, to the northern coast of Morocco.”

IMWM: possible records

On Tuesday, local maximum temperature records may be broken in southeastern Poland, he said IMWM on social media. As added, in this part of the country the current month is 7.1 degrees Celsius warmer than normal.

This year’s February in our country is already described as the warmest in recorded history.

Spring is not everywhere

It is worth noting that it is not exceptionally warm for the end of February in all of Poland. When the temperature in most parts of the country, especially in the south-east, reaches several degrees Celsius, it is much colder in the west and north.

At. 15th century Łeba and Ustka Only 3.4 degrees Celsius was recorded and these were the coldest cities at that time. The temperature felt at the seaside dropped below zero in some places and in Ustka it was -2 degrees Celsius.

As our forecaster explains, “Poland is located in the area of reduced pressure associated with the Yue low from the Mediterranean Sea and the low from Latvia,” and between them there is an atmospheric front that “separates the warm air masses over the south-eastern part of the country from the colder , covering the remaining regions from the west and trying to displace the heat. As he points out, this is a “temporary situation”.
