The Chinese electric bus will make its debut on the streets of the capital on Wednesday, announced the Miejskie Zakłady Autobusowe. The tests will last a year to test it in various weather conditions. The electric bus is to travel up to 400 kilometers on a single charge.

MZA informed that the Yutong U12 electric bus is the latest model of the Chinese manufacturer, which annually produces approx. 12,000 buses. vehicles. “From Wednesday, Varsovians will be able to ride it on the route of line 106. Later it will also appear between Ursus and Nowe Miasto as 178, and perhaps also on other routes served by the Stalowa depot” – MZA reported.

The vehicle – as emphasized – is powered by cobalt-free batteries and has a braking energy recovery system. “Thanks to this – according to the manufacturer’s declaration – it can reach up to 400 kilometers on a single charge” – wrote MZA.

There will be tests of other brands

The bus has the equipment required by the Public Transport Authority – primarily a low floor, facilities for the disabled and air conditioning, as well as – additionally – USB chargers, and special 360-degree cameras for drivers, which are to ensure full control of the space around the vehicle.

As ensured by Miejskie Zakłady Autobusowe, long-term tests of electric buses of other, European brands will be carried out in the near future.

The operator informed that apart from the tested Yutong, it has 160 electric buses.
