The prosecutor’s office is investigating the circumstances of the accident at Światowida Street. The doctors failed to save the driver of a passenger car that collided with a tram. The man died in the hospital. The passenger of the car still requires hospitalization. Her condition is assessed as severe.
The accident took place last Thursday on Światowida Street, near Strumykowa. A passenger car collided with a tram. Two people traveling by car were trapped inside the vehicle. Firefighters reported that one of them was unconscious, the other remained conscious, but was also seriously injured. A helicopter of the Polish Medical Air Rescue landed on the spot, which took one injured person to the hospital, and the other was taken by ambulance.
– The driver of a passenger car died in the hospital. His wife is fighting for her life, said prosecutor Katarzyna Skrzeczkowska, spokeswoman for the Warsaw-Praga District Prosecutor’s Office. The man was 58 years old. – A forensic expert has been called in to conduct an autopsy. During the section, the driver’s state of sobriety will be checked – announces Skrzeczkowska.
As he adds, the preliminary findings show that the driver was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the accident. These findings are yet to be verified by an expert in the field of toxicology.
The investigation into the accident is being conducted by the District Prosecutor’s Office for Warszawa-Praga Północ. Soon, an accident reconstruction expert is to be appointed, who will determine how the car collided with a tram.
