The Electric scooter may exceptionally be used on a sidewalk or a pedestrian path when the pavement is located along a road where vehicle traffic is permitted at speeds greater than 30 km / h and there is no dedicated cycle path and a bicycle lane. However, you have to go there at a speed close to the speed of a pedestrian, be especially careful and give way to pedestrians and not to obstruct pedestrian traffic.

To drive an electric scooter by people from 10 to 18 years of age, it is required to have a bicycle card or a driving license of category AM, A1, B1 or T. For people over 18 years of age, such a document is not required. On the other hand, children up to 10 years old can ride the electric scooter only in the residential area, under the supervision of an adult.

Similar provisions are provided for drivers of personal transport devices. The users of these vehicles may only travel on bicycle lanes and sidewalks.

On the other hand, in the case of devices supporting movement, such as roller skates, roller skates, skateboard, no permits are needed. There are also no age restrictions.

Mandate – electric scooter

The Act also introduced penalties for using an electric scooter, UTO or a device supporting traffic along a sidewalk or pedestrian road – at a speed greater than the speed close to the speed of a pedestrian, or for failing to give way to pedestrians.

The highest fine – in the amount of PLN 300 to PLN 500 – can be obtained for driving a vehicle other than a motor vehicle on a public road, in a residential area or in a traffic zone by a person who is under the influence of alcohol or a similar substance.
