There was a large fire in the vicinity of the Italian capital. The column of smoke could be seen all the way from the center of Rome. The fire started spreading around the archaeological park and the car demolition site, but little is known as to what might have caused it to explode.
Black smoke partially obscured the sky over Rome. The cause was a vegetation fire that raged on Saturday in the vicinity of the Centocelle archaeological park and near car demolition sites with flammable materials.
A high column of smoke could be seen even in the very center of the city.
The weather makes it difficult to put out the fire
Firefighters did everything in their power to contain a large fire. Air support was needed – several helicopters circled over the flames and dropped water on them. The exact cause of the fire has not yet been established.
Rome, and all of Italy, are struggling with an exceptionally strong, even for this time of year, heatwave. Meanwhile, the weather forecasters have no good news – the country is about to get under the influence of the African anticyclone, which will bring even more heat, which can result in as much as 45 degrees Celsius.
