Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni supported the candidacy of Mateusz Morawiecki for the position of chairman of the European Conservatives and Reformists party. Morawiecki, who took part in the event organized by the Meloni party, gave her a gift – a copy of “The Lord of the Rings” with a dedication. This is a reference to their meeting last year.
“I decided to remind Giorgia Meloni of our meeting in 2023 and give her a small gift. The fight against evil continues. Many battles await us, but together we will defeat Mordor,” he wrote Mateusz Morawiecki on the X website. He published photos from the February 2023 meeting, showing them talking to Meloni. In the background, on the wall, you can see a map of Middle-earth – the world from “The Lord of the Rings”.
The gift was a copy of this book, published in English. In the dedication, Morawiecki wrote: “Dear Giorgio, let's fight evil. Together. The light will win. We must defeat Mordor!”
Meloni anointed Morawiecki
Prime minister Italian Giorgia Meloni announced on Sunday in Rome that she would resign from further leadership of the European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) party and announced her support for former Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
The Party of European Conservatives and Reformists is a European political party with a right-wing orientation. These include, among others: PISGiorgia Meloni's Italian Brothers, the Czech Civic Democratic Party or the Swedish Democrats. EKR's partner party is the American Republican Party.
– We will accept applications. I assume that my friend Mateusz Morawiecki will also be among those who will run, Meloni added.
In response to the applause, she said, turning to Morawiecki: – This applause confirms that we will support you in this battle that you are also fighting for us.
Morawiecki: a difficult road ahead of us, but together we will reach paradise
Earlier, Morawiecki delivered a speech during the Meloni party festival called Festa Atreju. He recalled Dante's “Divine Comedy” and said: – Today, Europe also seems to be facing hell, and the path seems to be lost. A difficult road lies ahead of us, but together we will reach paradise.
He indicated his mission by recalling the slogan Donald Trump“Make Europe Great Again”. “We need strong and courageous leaders like Giorgia Meloni to lead us to start a new journey and rediscover the greatness of Europe, which is the heart of the world,” he said.
