The prosecutor's office, the police and the National Labor Inspectorate examine the circumstances of the accident at the Upholstery Department in Gola (Greater Poland Voivodeship). An 18-year-old Ukrainian woman lost her hand there after the machine pulled her in. The inspection showed that the employer submitted her to the Social Insurance Institution on the day of the accident.

The incident occurred on February 14 around 21 at the workplace in Gola in the Kępiński poviat. While working in the production hall, a partitioner used to comb the upholstery material called ovat, she pulled her hands on an 18-year-old Ukrainian woman.

Investigators secured the recording

As explained by prosecutor Maciej Meler, spokesman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Ostrów Wlkp., Employee documentation and machine data were secured in the case. The monitoring recording was also secured, at which the event is recorded. The case is supervised by the District Prosecutor's Office in Kępno.

– The victim will be questioned only when doctors agree to this. For now, a woman requires professional medical care. Due to the nature of injuries and expert opinions, the prosecutor will decide about the fate and direction of the case – announced Meler.

After the accident, firefighters and rescuers of ambulance were the first to come to the plant. – On the spot, it turned out that one of the employees stopped the machine and released the woman before the arrival of the emergency services – said the deputy commander of the Kępin fire brigade brig. Jarosław Kucharzak.

The girl lost her hand and fingers in her second hand.

“Some irregularities have already been found”

Inspectors from the branch of the National Labor Inspectorate in Ostrów Wlkp. They initiated an inspection in this matter. – The inspector has already issued legal measures at the control stage, although they seem only after its completion. This means that some irregularities have already been found, but you can talk about them after the check – said Daria Wojtczak, spokesman for the State Labor Inspectorate in Poznań. She added that the causes of the incident and the people who have been at fault are determined.

The PIP inspector determined that the employer reported an 18-year-old to the Social Insurance Institution on the day of the accident.
