The biggest NBA trades of the summer seemed to have already happened. The teams changed, among others: DeMar DeRozan, Paul George, Klay Thompson and Chris Paul, and the squads of the best league in the world seemed complete. According to reports from American journalists, this is not the end of the exchanges, and one of them is a real hit this summer.
A blockbuster trade between the New York Knick and the Minnesota Timberwolves. NBA stars change teams
Since the morning of Saturday, September 28, the American media have been reporting that the very high-profile exchange has already been decided. Well-informed journalists like Shams Charania and Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic report that its heroes include Karl Anthony-Towns, Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo.
According to reports, Karl Anthony-Towns will move from the Minnesota Timberwolves to the New York Knicks, and in his place will be the two current players of the team from New York. Thus, the Knicks will receive a really big star in the league, who reached the conference finals last season and averaged 21.8 points, 8.3 rebounds and three assists per game. Moreover, “KAT” is an All-Star player.
Interestingly, Towns himself is said to be surprised by this exchange, as evidenced by his post on social media. There were only three dots in it. Let us remember that in the case of an exchange agreed between the teams, the players do not have much to say and there have been many transfers with which the basketball players themselves were not satisfied.
DiVincenzo and Randle will join the Timberwolves. The latter is definitely the Knicks' current number two after Jalen Brunson. Randle averaged 24 points, 9.2 rebounds and five assists per game last season. In turn, DiVincenzo had a really good 17.8 points, four rebounds and 2.6 assists.
Additionally, the Timberwolves will receive a first-round draft pick from the Detroit Pistons. The Charlotte Hornets are also involved in the exchange, and the Knick will send DaQuan Jeffries to reduce salary expenses.
The 2024/25 NBA season starts on October 22. The defending champions are the Boston Celtics, who are also favorites to win this year.
