Minister of Justice Adam Bodnar said that a person who was detained on an attack in a hospital in Krakow is a prison officer. He said he would apply to the prime minister to dismiss the head of this formation.

The doctor of the Krakow University Hospital was attacked on Tuesday, around 10.30. A 35-year-old man burst into the office where the orthopedist examined the patient and attacked the doctor with a knife. The doctor died.
The director of the University Hospital in Krakow Marcin Jędrychowski announced that the attacker was a patient dissatisfied with the course of treatment.

Bodnar: The detainee is an officer of the Prison Service
– First of all, I would like to express my deep compassion for the doctor's family. Oh me, absolutely inconceivable, that we are in this situation, when a public official who is a doctor is dying – he said Adam Bodnar at an evening press conference.
– This is also a special moment for me, because the person who was detained in this matter turned out to be a prison officer. As soon as we learned about it together with Minister Maria Ejchart, who is responsible for the prison service, we decided to immediately come to Katowice, because this officer is just employed by a detention center – he said.
Maria Ejchart reported that the man has been an officer of the Prison Service for five years. – The service received signals about the behavior of this officer, which should have aroused anxiety – she added.

Bodnar: I will request the dismissal of Colonel Pecki
– I will apply to the prime minister Donald Tusk for the dismissal of Colonel Andrzej Pecki from the position of General Director of the Prison Service. We believe that this change is necessary from the point of view of this new opening when it comes to prison service – said Bodnar.
