The recoverable resources of the Rzeczyca deposit discovered by Orlen in the Lubuskie province amount to over 100 thousand tons of crude oil, the company announced on Wednesday. In the vicinity of this discovery, the company has identified other structures in which additional quantities of the raw material may be located. The resources of the entire complex are estimated at over 500 thousand tons of oil.
Orlen announced in a statement issued on Wednesday that it had discovered a “large oil deposit in western Poland”.
– The Rzeczyca deposit is one of the largest oil discoveries in Poland in the last dozen or so years. It is a great success of our geologists and engineers. Launching the exploitation of these resources will bring benefits not only to Orlen, but also to local government units, which receive as much as 90 percent of the exploitation fee for the extraction of crude oil and natural gas. This means that, taking into account the planned extraction, additional revenues to the commune budget may amount to as much as one million zlotys per year – said Ireneusz Fąfara, president of Orlen, quoted in the press release. The new oil deposit near Świebodzin was discovered by the Rzeczyca-1 exploration well, drilled in the town of Grodziszcze, in the area of joint concession no. 24/95/Ł. After its development, the well will produce approx. 16.5 thousand tons of crude oil per year.
