Daria Pikulik made a fantastic surprise on Sunday. She completely unexpectedly won the tenth medal for Poland at these games. She won silver in the omnium competition, which is a combined event in track cycling.. Before the last competition she was in eighth place, but in the points race she was definitely in the best position. Thanks to two additional laps she gained 40 points, and added another 19 in the flying bonuses. In this way she made up for the losses and moved to second place in great style. It turns out that Pikulik has even tried her hand at politics in the past. In 2018, at the age of just 21, she ran in the elections for the Sławno district council. The Olympian, who had already competed in Rio de Janeiro, was in the last, sixth place on the list Polish People's Party in the district covering the city of Darłowo, where she lives and trains.
