A pocket park will be built between the blocks of flats in the Żegrze estate in Poznań. The area has long been occupied by wild vegetation, now it will be cleaned up. But the city intends to leave the greenery that grows on the rubble.

Pocket park design between ul. Inflancka and Rzeczańska in Poznań is ready. In a small area, it is planned, among others, small retention, flower meadow and new trees. All accompanied by existing vegetation.

A place for ruderal nature has been provided

According to the Municipal Greenery Authority, the small, housing estate area is currently covered with vegetation, which forms an important element of the landscape development of this place. – It developed on, among other things, building remains and spontaneously occupied the area between housing estates. Ruderal nature, i.e. created on the ruins, has also been included in the design of the pocket park – explains Klaudia Beker, press secretary of ZZM Poznań. The park will occupy 1,152 square meters in the Żegrze estate. Pedestrian paths will be created there, with benches and litter bins next to them, trees, shrubs, perennials and grasses will be planted. The project also assumes the creation of a small retention. “For this purpose, the terrain was used to infiltrate water in this area,” explains Beker.

There will also be a flower meadow and a house for insects. – The pocket park in this area is a perfect example of a place where you can observe the changes that occur in nature. A small space is now covered with trees such as cherry plum, walnut and black locust. They have been included in the project, they will be an important landscape element of this place – emphasizes Beker.
