A passenger plane was shot at while trying to land in the capital of Haiti, Port-au-Prince. The Independence March organized by nationalists passed through the streets of Warsaw. In turn, President Andrzej Duda announced that he had a telephone conversation with US President-elect Donald Trump. Here are five things to know on Tuesday, November 12.
1. Plane shot at while trying to land
A Spirit Airlines plane was shot at while trying to land in the capital Haiti Port-au-Prince. The plane was redirected to the airport in Dominicans – the Miami Herald reported on Monday.
As a result of the incident, the airport was closed to all commercial flights. Embassy USA issued a warning to travelers saying the airport was closed due to “gang activities aimed at blocking travel to and from Port-au-Prince, which may include armed violence and disruption to roads, ports and airports.”

2. Andrzej Duda talked to Donald Trump
President Andrzej Duda announced that he had a telephone conversation with the US president-elect Donald Trump. He said he would meet him before he officially took over as president of the United States.
Topics during the meeting between Duda and Trump will include the situation in… Ukraine. – The president-elect asked me about my assessment of this situation. We have a lot of these topics to discuss, added the Polish president.

3. Independence March in Warsaw
According to the estimates of the Warsaw Security Bureau, approximately 90,000 people took part in this year's Independence March organized by nationalists – said Marzena Gawkowska, deputy spokeswoman for the Warsaw City Hall, after 5 p.m.
According to the organizers, there were “at least 250,000 participants.” The police do not comment on attendance data.
4. Collision involving an MP from the Civic Coalition
In Piaseczno, at the intersection of Armii Krajowej and Ksiącia Janusz I Stary streets, a collision occurred. One of the cars was driven by Piotr Kandyba, an MP from the Civic Coalition.
Magdalena Gąsowska, spokeswoman for the Piaseczno police, informed the tvnwarszawa.pl editorial office that “the driver of the Toyota vehicle did not give way to a Toyota Yaris driving correctly.” The perpetrator of the collision was sober and was fined PLN 2,500 and 10 penalty points.
“Nothing serious happened to me or the perpetrator. The car is a purchased item, and now I can only express my great gratitude to the services,” the parliamentarian said.
5. The Netherlands introduces border controls
On land borders Netherlands Controls will be reintroduced on December 9 and will remain in force for six months, the Ministry of Immigration and Asylum announced on Monday.
Previously, other European countries, among others, reintroduced border controls Germany, Austria, Italy, SloveniaNorway, Denmark, Poland, Finland and Sweden.
