Axiom Space once again delayed the start of the Ignis mission. On Tuesday, at a press conference, it was announced that the flight of Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski to the International Space Station will take place on June 10.

According to information provided by Axiom Space, the start of the Ignis mission will take place on Tuesday, June 10 at 14.22 of our time (12.22 UTC).

This is another flight delay with the participation of the Polish astronaut Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski. Originally, his flight to an international space station was to take place on May 29, later its start was translated into June 8 and 9. The cause of the first shift of the start were small technical problems with the capsule.

What is the Ignis mission?

Ignis, or fire, is the official name of the first Polish technology and scientific mission to an international space station. It is part of the Axiom 4 expedition organized by Axiom Space.

The mission consists of its commander Peggy Whitson (USA), pilot Shubhanshu Shukla (India) and specialists Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski (Poland) and Tibor Kapuu (Hungary). Astronauts are to spend 14 days at the station. They will conduct research related to, among others with the influence of microgravity on the human body, land observation and fuels of the future. As part of the Polish Ignis mission in orbit, 13 experiments will be carried out, which relate to, among others medicine, biology, biotechnology and engineering sciences. Several periods have also been planned, during which the Polish astronaut will make connections with native amateur radio.

Uznański-Wiśniewski will also lead in space The shows that will be recorded and then used as part of the educational program. Classes will apply to, among others Newton's cradle in weightlessness (government of several contacting equal steel balls that can only fluctuations in one plane; the device illustrates the principle of momentum and energy) and the action of simple electrical systems (e.g. a telegraph key).
