“Kurniki” near Gdańsk voted for the opposition. “Kościelne” Sierakowice – for PiS. Electoral Poland in a nutshell – one district and two extremely different voting results. The deeper into the Kashubian interior, the support for Tusk seems to be decreasing and that for Kaczyński is increasing. Although these may only be appearances.
In the vicinity of the Tricity, as in a laboratory, we can see the changes taking place in the Polish countryside, which has not been the way we imagine it for a long time.

Banino. “Chicken houses”
Bogumiła Cirocka is a philologist, she edits books and writes journalistic texts, her professional activity focuses on Kashubian issues, in particular literature created in this language. She grew up in Przodków, in a family with roots here for many generations. Kashubian was spoken every day in her family home.
He has been living in Banin, Żukowo commune, for fifteen years. It is a village where you can bring tourists who want to see with their own eyes what the process of urban sprawl, progressive suburbanization and landscape degradation in the suburbs looks like.

Bogumiła recalls that thirty years ago, when she bought a plot of land here, Banino was a small Kashubian village. The farms were located several hundred meters from each other, with arable fields stretching between them. There are chickens, geese, and sometimes a goat in the yards, cows in the barns, and pigs in the pigsty. Several hundred people lived throughout the village. Today, almost ten thousand people live here. Banino ranks ninth in the ranking of the largest villages in Poland.
