The International Testing Agency (ITA) in July detected in Dorota Borowska's body a prohibited substance considered doping – clostebol. This substance is used, among others, in the ophthalmological, dermatological and veterinary industries and is supposed to improve the efficiency of the human body. Of course, for the sportswoman it was a drama before the games in Paris.
Borowska explained that the substance was detected in her case in connection with the earlier administration of antibiotics to an injured dog. The Polish woman fought to take part in the Olympic Games, and on August 1st the decision was to be made that her appeal would be rejectedNow there's been a twist in the case.
And yet? Dorota Borowska's case still unresolved. Possible appearance at the games?
Borowska's performance in Paris seemed to be ruled out, but new light has been shed on the matter by the portal sporty-poznan.pl. The source informs that the final decision regarding the 28-year-old is to be made on Sunday, August 4, by 2:00 p.m. The Canadian women's team will not start until August 6, so there is still a chance that the athlete will be suspended.
“Borowska's boats are on their way to Paris,” the source informs. In the hope that the case will go Borowska's way, her equipment has been sent to the French capital. The athlete herself and her coach Mariusz Szałkowski are to await the decisive hearing in Wałcz.
Borowska could be acquitted and given a reprimand, which would be the mildest punishment. Then she could start in Paris. The start of the 500m pair eliminations is scheduled for 11:00 on Tuesday, August 6, where Borowska would start with Sylwia Szczerbińska.
