According to the Tatra National Park, there is still frozen snow in the higher parts of the mountains, especially on the northern side of the ridge of the High Tatras and in the gullies. Moving in such terrain requires experience in winter mountain tourism, adapting the planned route to the current conditions, as well as having winter tourist equipment such as crampons, an ice ax and a helmet. After heavy rainfall, the trails are very wet and slippery, forest sections are muddy, and water levels in streams are high. There is especially a lot of water in Dolinka za Mnichem in the area of Stawek Staszica.
