“Obvious attack, assassination”

The tragic death of tourists from Spain was confirmed on Saturday by the head of the country's Foreign Ministry, Jose Manuel Albares, specifying that the Spanish fatalities included two women and one man. – From what I was told about this incident, it was an obvious attack, an assassination attempt – said the minister.

According to the head of the government of Catalonia, Pere Aragones, the victims of the attack, which no terrorist organization has yet claimed responsibility for, are the inhabitants of three Catalan cities: Barcelona, ​​Girona and Figueres.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez also commented on the attack. “I am shocked by the news of the murder of Spanish tourists in Afghanistan,” he wrote on the X platform. He assured that he was monitoring the case and the consulate was working to provide all necessary assistance.

Shooting in a bazaar in Afghanistan

According to witnesses, the attack occurred shortly after the arrival of a group of tourists from Kabul (the capital of Afghanistan) to the center of Bamyan. An armed man fired shots at the visitors while they were shopping at a local market.

“We strongly condemn this incident and express our deep regret, conveying our condolences to the families of the victims,” ​​the Afghan Interior Ministry said in a statement on Saturday.

According to the ministry, seven people were detained by Saturday afternoon in connection with the murder of tourists.
