The Venezuelan girl, who was separated with her parents a year ago, returned to the native country. The family escaped from Venezuela to the USA together, but she failed to settle there. Parents were deported, and the child hit the hands of American services, as officials claimed, for his good.

Maikelys Espinosis Bernal returned to Venezuela deported flight. Venezuelan state television showed her on the hands of the first lady of Cilia Flores at the airport at Caracas. The girl was then handed over to her mother and grandmother at the Presidential Palace in the presence of President Nicolas Maduro.
The child was separated from their parents when they came to the USA last year, crossing the border with Mexico. From May 2024, Maikelys was in the hands of the American refugee resettlement office.
Representatives of the Socialist Government in Caracas, subject to sanctions by the US administration, repeatedly demanded that the girl be sent to her mother, Yorely Bernal, who was deported to Venezuela in April. According to CNN, they accused the US of kidnapping a child. Stani officials claimed that it was all for the girl's safety.
Parents accused of participating in the gang
The father of the girl, 25-year-old Maiker Espinosis, was sent to El Salvador in March, where he went to the notorious prison for Cecot terrorists. He is one of at least 137 Venezuelans deported there by Trump's administration on the basis of 18th-century war regulations.
The US authorities claim that Espinosis is a member of the Venezuelan Tren de Aragua gang and is involved in “murder, sales of drugs, kidnapping, extortion, trafficking in human beings and leading torture.” However, they did not present any evidence – emphasized the Reuters agency.
The Espinozy family denied these allegations. – My son was never associated with them. I think it's a political matter. They use my son's affairs to hide the monstrosities committed to all these innocent people – said the mother of the man Maria Escalona.
According to the US authorities, the mother of two -year -old Maikelys dealt with the recruitment of young women for drug trafficking and prostitution, but also no evidence was presented, and the family rejects these accusations.
In recent years, millions of Venezuelans left the country, escaping from the poverty and the repressive regime of Maduro. During his rule, a country with rich oil deposits plunged into a catastrophic economic and social crisis. At least 7.3 million people left Venezuela, or about 20 percent. population.
