Iga Świątek did great in United Cup singles matches, but only for a while. She defeated Malene Helgo and Karolina Muchova without any major problems, losing only eight games. Then came the meeting with Katie Boulter. The British woman stood up to the Polish woman, but eventually she had to accept her superiority. However, she was able to take the set. After the match, experts and commentators gushed about the high level of the match. -It was epic! It was a pleasure to watch the quality, intensity and mental resilience of the players – they emphasized. And although the mood was excellent and many fans praised Świątek, there were also those who strongly criticized her. She got away with one move.
Internet users came up with a surprising theory about Świątek. Strong accusations
It's about a medical break. The Pole asked for it in the third set, just after breaking to 1:2 for her rival. First, a physiotherapist appeared on the court, and after a while she and Świątek went to a more secluded place to help her. After a few minutes, the 23-year-old returned to the playing field with her thigh clearly bandaged. And despite the discomfort, she managed to continue playing. What's more, right after her return she made a return break and ultimately won the entire set 6:4 and the match 2:1.
And already during the third game and after the last ball, Internet users began to make strong accusations against the Pole. They claimed that she took a medical break specifically to throw her opponent off her rhythm, which she clearly succeeded in doing. In their opinion, Świątek did not feel any pain at all, and it was a tactical move.
“Taking the MTO after it was broken was just meh. It was an attempt to break Katie's winning rhythm”, “Tactical MTO was not cool. Once you cheat, always cheat”, “It was fake”, “Christmas with more and more manipulation. She was broken, she had no idea, she took the MTO, she came back and took the match…”, “It's only the second day of 2025, and she already took the MTO because she couldn't match her opponent” – outraged Internet users wrote on X.

One of them went much further. “She needed a foul play and a piece of luck from outer space to win this match. An undeserved victory. Part of me hopes that she is actually injured and won't play in the final, that would be karma,” he thundered.
An important match for the Poles at the United Cup
With this one move, Świątek set the Internet on fire. However, he must distance himself from negative comments and focus on the upcoming competition with Kazakhstan. It is this team that the Poles will face in the United Cup semi-finals. There will most likely be a big hit between Iga Świątek and Jelena Rybakina.
If the White and Reds manage to defeat their opponents, they will advance to the final and equal the achievement from last year. However, our compatriots hope for much more and want to win the entire tournament. The third edition of the event is now underway. In the first one, the Poles lost to the USA in the semi-finals, and last year they lost to the Germans in the title-deciding clash.
