In Croatia, a weekly boycott of selected supermarket chains and three product groups began on Thursday. Prime Minister Andrej Plenković announced that day updating the list of goods, covered by the requirement to limit prices, which will soon find 70 products.
A weekly boycott covered two supermarkets and a drugstore network. The initiators of the campaign also called in social media to refrain from buying carbonated drinks, bottled water and dishwashing liquids. The reason for the action – as emphasized – is a huge increase in prices in boycotted stores, including these groups of goods.
Appeal to store employees
As part of the campaign to employees of all supermarkets, a maximum slowdown in work was also appealed. In addition to the boycott of selected supermarkets and products, the initiators called consumers to refrain from any purchases on Friday.
The action was supported by the Consumer Protection Society, trade unions and opposition political parties. Her government did not oppose.
Last Friday, as a sign of protest against the increase in prices in Croatia A one -day shopping boycott was carried out. The tax administration data shows that the number of issued bills in retail trade on that day was 44 percent. lower than on Friday a week earlier, and consumers spent 53 percent in stores less money.

The government introduces price limitation
On Thursday, after meeting the government with representatives of the retail chains and producers of Prime Minister Plenković announced the update of the list currently consisting of 30 products whose prices are limited. The new list will cover 70 goods, including Bread, barley, pasta, canned pasta or fish.
Minister of Economy Ante Szusznjar explained that each seller will have to choose at least one product from the group that will be limited. That is, the minister continued – that among all spaghetti, for example, at least one will have to be sold at a fixed maximum price.
Szusznjar also noted that informing consumers about limited prices will be mandatory, and these products will have to be clearly marked and distinguished. Placals with an area greater than 400 sq m will have to have a special bookcase with products with reduced prices.
One of the Croatian chain of stores has additionally announced on Thursday a reduction and blockage of prices of 250 domestic products that are not covered by the government's decision.
