Preparations are underway for the construction of the A2 motorway section from the Biała Podlaska junction to the state border with Belarus. The General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways selected the most advantageous offer in the tender for the design of the road. The documentation for nearly PLN 10 million is to be prepared by the company Mosty Gdańsk.

The contract with the designer is planned to be signed in the third quarter of this year. As we read in the announcement, the designer’s task will be to prepare a construction design and obtain a permit for a road investment within 30 months from the date of signing the contract.

“The new route, from the Biała Podlaska junction to the state border with Belarus, will have two roadways with two lanes and a reserve for the addition of a third lane” – indicated.

The tender for the design of a 32 km A2 section from the Biała Podlaska junction to the state border (Kukuryki) was announced at the end of December last year. In April, road workers chose the most advantageous offer, however, an appeal was received by the National Appeals Chamber.

In June, the KIO ruled on an appeal against the selection of the best offer. Therefore, the decision on Friday is – as GDDKiA announced – “re-selection of the offer, which is the result of the appeal being decided by the National Appeals Chamber”.

The next stage will be the announcement of a tender for the implementation of the investment.

The management reminded that in August 2020, over 15 km of the A2 section between the Lubelska junction and the Mińsk Mazowiecki bypass was put into operation. In the spring of last year, GDDKiA signed contracts for two more sections of the motorway between the Kałuszyn and Groszki junctions as well as Gręzów and Siedlce Zachód junctions.

“The Masovian Voivode is conducting administrative proceedings aimed at issuing a decision on the permit for the implementation of a road investment (ZRID). The expected completion date is autumn 2023” – informed the road workers.

At the end of January this year, GDDKiA signed a contract for the motorway section between the Groszki and Gręzów junctions. The application for a ZRID decision is to be delivered to the Mazowieckie Voivode in the fourth quarter of this year. The planned completion date is the summer of 2024. These three sections have a total length of over 37 km.

In April this year. road workers signed contracts for four more sections of A2 from Siedlce to Biała Podlaska, with a total length of over 63 km. April 1 for the Malinowiec – Łukowisko and Swory – Biała Podlaska sections, April 14 for Siedlce West – Malinowiec and Łukowisko – Swory. “For each task, the documentation necessary to submit an application for a ZRID decision is being prepared. The planned deadline for submitting applications is December 2021” – it was announced in the Friday release.
