Traffic on the A2 motorway towards Świecko near the German border was suspended after an accident involving three cars near Rzepin in the Lubusz Voivodeship.
The incident occurred on Sunday around 18.00 at kilometer 13 of A2 – this is the section of the motorway between the Rzepin junction and Świecko.
According to police findings, three passenger cars traveling in the same direction collided. Two people complaining of pain were taken by ambulance to a hospital for medical consultations to check whether they had suffered any more serious injuries.
– The opinion of the medics will determine whether the incident will be treated by the police as a collision or an accident. We will do everything to carry out the necessary activities as quickly as possible and clear the blocked A2 road, as there has been a traffic jam for many hours and traffic towards Świecko is very slow, said the deputy district police commander in Słubice, comm. Łukasz Szymański. He added that drivers can bypass the incident site by exiting the A2 at the Rzepin junction, and from this city go via local roads, including the DW137 to Słubice and from there to Świecko. However, it should be taken into account that there may be traffic jams in Słubie and the surrounding area due to heavy traffic. Due to border controls on the German side and increased traffic after All Saints’ Day on Sunday, there are traffic jams on the A2 motorway before Świecko and nearby Słubice when leaving Poland for German. Traffic moves very slowly there. The traffic jam before Świecko is currently approximately 10 km long.
