Sectional speed measurement was launched on the A4 motorway on Friday. The device monitors the speed on the section between Kostomłoty and Kąty Wrocławskie in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship.
The Lower Silesian section of the A4 between Kostomłoty and Kąty Wrocławskie is a place where road accidents and collisions occur very often. Monika Niżniak, spokeswoman for the General Inspectorate of Road Transport (GITD), announced that on Friday at 12, sectional speed measurement was started on this section.
Sectional speed measurement on A4
The GITD spokeswoman pointed out that “these devices, unlike speed cameras, do not perform spot speed measurements, but measure on a specific section of the road”.
– The vehicle enters through the first gantry, where its parameters and information on the entry time are recorded, the same happens on the second gantry. On the basis of the time of entry and exit, the average speed at which the vehicle was moving along the monitored section is calculated – explained Niżniak.
On the monitored A4 section, the speed limit is 110 km/h.
