PO has been saying for years that abortion should be accessible, legal, free and safe. But we will not pull the wool over voters' eyes that we will push the bill through the Sejm next week, because it will be difficult – said deputy minister Aleksandra Gajewska from KO. She said that talks with PSL politicians on the issue of abortion are ongoing, but “the leaders are more radical than the members”.

Prime minister Donald Tusk stated that “until the next elections there will be no majority in this parliament for legal abortion, in the full sense of the word.”

Gajewska: the leaders of some groups are simply more radical than their members

Aleksandra Gajewska from the Civic Platform, Deputy Minister of Family, Labor and Social Policy, was a guest on TVN24's “Fakty po Faktach” on Saturday. She was asked whether the prime minister's words mean that the Civic Coalition will not be able to convince PSL to change your mind about abortion.

– We are working on this all the time, believe me. Individual talks, larger meetings and so on. It seems that the leaders of some groups are simply more radical than their members. Due to the various elections taking place in the future, they do not want to speak in a way that could cause them to lose some of their electorate – she said.

She added that she “regrets it because she fears for the life and health of women”. – I would like to, I feel obliged to, realize it – assured Gajewska.

Civic Platform has been saying for years that abortion in Poland should be accessible, legal, free and safe. This has not changed in our country. We will not pull the wool over voters' eyes that we will manage to push such a bill through the Sejm next week, because recent votes have shown us that it will be very difficult – she added.
