At a gas station at Radzymińska Street in Warsaw, one of the cars hit a gas dispenser, which began to leak heavily. A total of five cars were involved in the accident. According to junior brigadier Artur Kamiński from the Warsaw State Fire Service, two people were injured. Firefighters evacuated people staying at the station and in a nearby restaurant, and cut off the gas and electricity.

– At 6:46 p.m., the management station of the City Headquarters of the State Fire Service received a report that there had been an accident involving a hit at a gas pump. Our actions consisted of dispatching ten teams to this event, including a chemical group. After arriving, we actually confirmed that gas was coming out of the distributor, it was completely damaged, the gas was leaking out quite intensively – said junior brigadier Artur Kamiński, press officer of the Municipal Commander of the State Fire Service in Warsaw, in an interview with TVN24.

Two people injured

The firefighter added that two people were injured – one had a broken leg and the other had head injuries. A total of five cars were involved in the accident.

– Our actions consisted of evacuating the injured people to a safe zone. Additionally, we evacuated the gas station, and a moment later we decided to evacuate the nearby McDonalds. The electricity was cut off at the gas station, then we managed to cut off the gas with the main safety valve and neutralize the leak, he continued. The firefighter admitted that “the incident looked quite serious”. – There was a very high risk of explosion. Gas was leaking heavily from the damaged dispenser, he added.

He added that for now it is impossible to say who caused the accident – it will be determined by the police.
