Actress Barbara Rylska has died – the president of the Association of Polish Stage Artists (ZASP), Krzysztof Szuster, announced on Saturday. She was 89 years old. “A great friend, a great comedy talent, has passed away,” he added.

The president of ZASP recalled that Rylska was the first “My Fair Lady” in a play performed at the Komedia Theater in the 1960s. He noted that she was a very popular actress whom older viewers and listeners may remember, among others. from “Afternoon Tea at the Microphone”, a radio program broadcast, among others, in Program I of Polish Radio. Szuster added that Rylska starred in many cult films. The actress could be seen, among others, in Stanisław Bareja's film “Wanted, Wanted”, where she uttered the iconic phrase “My husband is a director by profession.” The actress also starred in the films “The Last Course” and “Julia, Anna, Genowefa”. Viewers may also remember her from the series “Adam and Ewa” and guest appearances in series such as “Foster Family” or “Tenants”.

Barbara Rylska was associated with the Komedia Theater in Warsaw. Later she performed on the stage of the Krakow People's Theater. The last theater she became involved with was the Kwadrat Theater in Warsaw.
