Krystyna Zdziechowska, one of its organizers, spoke about the action to help refugees from Afghanistan who are staying in the center in Linin in “Get up and the weekend”. She stressed that “these people often came in one pants, sandals”. – Most helping people do it out of their heart, not just to tidy up the closet. But in fact, we are helping the state – she said.
Krystyna Zdziechowska, one of the organizers of the social aid campaign for refugees at the center in Linin, said on TVN24 that the campaign had been going on for over a month. – We learned that Afghans were staying in the center in the nearby Góra Kalwaria (in Linin, in the Góra Kalwaria commune). We just called the center and we received a very warm reception from the social workers, she said.
– They informed us that these people often came in one pants, sandals, that food would also be useful, because the food rate provided by the Polish state to centers for foreigners, not from today, is only PLN nine a day per person – she added . – It is easy to imagine that for nine zlotys a day these meals are not full of calories – she noted.
– We are a group of private people, some people know each other, some do not know each other (…) We have established certain places to pick up clothes – said Zdziechowska. – It is very encouraging. Most people do it out of their heart, not just to tidy up the closet. But in fact, we are helping the state, she noted.
She noted that “the rates for foreigners staying in the centers and waiting for the Geneva passport (travel document issued to a foreigner who has been granted refugee status – ed.) Have been unchanged for years”. – They receive PLN 70 per month per person as long as they stay there, and after leaving the center they will get PLN 750, for which they have to support themselves. Of course, they will look for any job – said Zdziechowska.
Zdziechowska: Our help is primarily clothes for refugees
– Our help is primarily to dress these people, because the weather has changed over the course of a month. Most of these things were abandoned by our friends, friends and strangers, but we also buy a lot of things – she said.
She added that at the moment the money from the drop-off that she runs on Facebook is spent mainly on food.
When asked how to help, she said that mostly winter boots can be brought. – In Warsaw, the collection point is at the “Las Rąk” studio at 140 Marszałkowska Street. You can make a payment through the portal chance.pl, by entering the slogan: “help for 130 refugees in the center in Linin”.
As we read in the description of the collection, these are former collaborators of the Polish military contingent and non-governmental organizations, as well as their families, who were evacuated from Kabul to Poland.
