After 29 years, the railway connection to Zegrze Południowy is back

On June 11, PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe SA restores connections on two lines of Mazowsze after almost three decades, the railwaymen informed. Passengers will be able to use the Wieliszew Centrum stop and the Zegrze Południowe station. The investment was carried out for PLN 45 million.

The investment carried out by PLK SA from June 11 will provide connections from Zegrze Południowe to Wieliszew, Legionowo and Warsaw. The 3.5 km section between Wieliszew and Zegrze Południowe will take approximately four minutes, according to the railwaymen’s announcement. A direct journey from Zegrze Południowy to Warszawa Gdańska will take approx. 35 minutes, and to Warszawa Zachodnia approx. 45 minutes. Trains will depart approximately every hour. Wieliszew Centrum stop and Zegrze Południowe station

As the railwaymen emphasize, passengers gain the Wieliszew Centrum stop in the area of ​​the intersection of the railway line with ul. Modlińska (provincial road 631) and the Zegrze Południowe station on Lake Zegrze. Two single-edge platforms at the rebuilt Zegrze Południowe station and one single-edge platform at the new Wieliszew Centrum passenger stop are adapted to the needs of people with reduced mobility, declare the railway workers.

The modernization of the line also covered the rail-road crossing in Wieliszew on ul. Modlińska (provincial road 631). The road surface was replaced, new tracks were laid, a pedestrian and bicycle path was made. The crossing is equipped with signals and barriers.

The project “Works on the railway line No. 28 Wieliszew-Zerze” is co-financed in 80 percent. from the European Funds under the Regional Operational Program of the Mazowieckie Voivodeship for the years 2014-2020.
