Five frontline countries have developed a common position on agricultural products from Ukraine, Agriculture Minister Robert Telus announced on Friday. He added that everyone felt it was necessary to extend the grain import ban until the end of the year.

– We have worked out a common position, which we will present at the next Council. This position has three basic points – said the minister.

Prolongation of the grain import ban

He explained that one of the points is to extend the ban on grain imports to five frontline countries until the end of the year.

– We support the ban on imports (grain – ed.) to our countries until the end of the year. This will be a very strong conclusion. (…) Once again, we are applying for this ban to be extended until the end of the year – said the head of the Ministry of Agriculture.

Remaining points

The minister informed that the other two points concern the subsidy for the transit of grain and “flexibility” for individual countries of goods that will not be able to be imported. He gave raspberries as an example in the case of Poland.

Currently, the EU ban on Ukrainian grain imports is in force until September 15.
