Among the possible causes of the crash of a Jeju Air plane at Muan airport in the southwest South Korea the city's fire brigade chief Lee Jung-hyun mentioned, among others: bird strike and weather conditions. South Korea's transport ministry announced that the air traffic control tower warned the pilots of the Jeju Air plane of a possible bird strike shortly before the tragedy.

Footage of the crash broadcast by YTN showed the Jeju Air plane gliding at high speed down the runway, apparently with the landing gear closed, and colliding head-on with a concrete wall at the end of the runway. The 15-year-old Boeing 737-800 was on a flight from the capital ThailandBangkok.
