TORONTO — A cargo container with gold and different gadgets value over $20 million Canadian (US$14.8 million) was stolen from Toronto’s Pearson Worldwide airport, authorities stated Thursday.
Peel Regional Police Inspector Stephen Duivesteyn stated a “excessive worth” container was taken from a holding space facility after being unloaded from a airplane Monday night.
“As per regular process, the plane was unloaded and cargo was transported from the plane to a holding cargo facility,” he stated. “The container contained a excessive worth cargo. It did include gold but it surely was not unique to gold. It contained different gadgets of financial worth.
The lacking items had been reported to police a short while after.
Police declined to supply extra particulars.
“We’re three days in, so our investigators have their eyes open to all avenues,” Duivesteyn stated.
No arrests have been made.
