Despite the announcement to withdraw alcohol in tubes, the Speaker of the Sejm, Szymon Hołownia, wants explanations from the President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection on this matter. We will work on solutions to protect our children, he announced.

“Pressure makes sense,” the Speaker of the Sejm wrote on social media Szymon Hołowniacommenting on the announcement of the withdrawal of alcohol in sachets from the market.

OLV, a manufacturer of sachets of alcoholic beverages under the Voodoo Monkey brand, announced on Tuesday that it was withdrawing the entire batch of products from the market and immediately stopping their production.

“Information has just appeared that the manufacturer of alcohol tubes has finally looked at the matter with a sober eye and will withdraw this crap from the market,” wrote Szymon Hołownia. However, he emphasized that this did not end the matter for him.

“We will work on solutions to protect our children, and today I am submitting a letter to the president of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection, inviting him to the Sejm – I want to know what happened and what we can do to ensure that it never happens again,” the marshal said.

Authorities are responding to the sale of alcohol in sachets

The media recently reported on the sale of alcoholic beverages in soft packaging resembling fruit mousses under the Voodoo Monkey brand.

After the case was publicized, the Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that he would find a method that would “block the practice of alcohol sachets.”

Chief Sanitary Inspector Paweł Grzesiowski announced that inspectors will inspect plants producing alcohol sachets and stores selling them, justifying this, among others: risk of confusion with children's products due to similar packaging.

In turn, the Ministry of Agriculture announced that from Wednesday, the Agricultural and Food Trade Inspection Service (IJHARS) will start inspections for, among others: product labeling and compliance of the description with the content.
